Side A, You are Tired features amazing finger-pick style utilising both a calm and destructive mood, the tracks title producing imagery whilst you are listening and to a degree the sounds send you back to a time. similarly to other such guitar luminaries within the same genre such as John Fahey, Sandy Bull, Robbie Basho to name a few. Rob is an extension of their ideas, using his guitar to express meaning and emotion and he does it very elegantly on this opening track.

We can hear a kind of Henry Flynt vibe merging the essences of Raga, Folk and Experimental music together. Rob is also playing this live, there is no backwards tape or effect and this is testament to the genius of Rob and his playing.

All 45s are limited to 300 copies and come housed in a duo-tone Risograph sleeves and each copy includes a hand-numbered single sided postcard.

Anyone who has been invested in underground music during the past 5 years will be well-aware of the name Andy Human; causing a huge sensation with his main group The Reptoids the band have released a slew of acclaimed singles and an LP which have impressed collectors and fans of the current wave of punk and placed Andy in the top-tier of celebrated songwriters within the genre.

In 2017 Andy started his solo side-project Jackson Politick with a fantastic debut LP release on Fullerton, CA based label Neck Chop Records. The album entitled Paste V.1 differed slightly from Andy's earlier work with the Reptoids and his earlier solo efforts, focusing on more emotive song writing and at times a fantastic pop touch added together with an almost psychedelic weirdness.

In 2018 Andy has returned to the Jackson Politick project and Market Square is proud to have had released the 7" last November (2018).

Both sides feature Andy at his most introspective and emotive, yet also retaining his punk awareness and edge.

The a-side Psycho-Mania has an almost glam-rock handclap beat to it, with oscillating synths and power driven guitar chords. The unique thing however is the outsider lyrics which outpour from Andy's mind and mouth, some home truths are being stated there, telling us all about the "assholes" in our society... Andy definitely delivers the sermon about our current Psycho-Mania world. This is definitely for fans of Roxy Music, Pere Ubu and Chrome.

The flip-side however is a more softer affair, although lyrically retaining Andy's punk wit 'Well-Adjusted Australians' is a melancholic slice of UK sounding indie-pop or post-punk (depending on how you hear it) At times it has a very Television Personalities (Painted Word LP era) vibe to it and at the same times recalls New Zealand band The Clean., either way it's a great track which much self-deprecation as well as sarcastically (yet playfully) making a dig at our Well-Adjusted Aussie friends (you know who you are)

The single is limited to 300 and comes housed in a duo-tone risograph fold-over sleeve.

You can purchase the single and stream the tracks direct at Market Square via bandcamp here JACKSON POLITICK

From the back streets of Goteborg, Sweden come a new breed of DIY punks in the form of young four-piece Skiftande Enhenter.

Skiftande Enheter consists of Julius on Telecaster Guitar, Viktor on Bass, Mattias on Organ and Elin on Drums.

Sweden as a nation has always been on the pulse of ever changing styles and sounds and have always produced home-grown bands which often outshine other groups from around the world but sadly none of these bands ever really get much notice. Here at Market Square I've really loved the music Julius and Co have made and really wanted to release a 7" for them to expose them to more people from around the world.

This new 2 sided single consists of two brand new songs written and recorded by the band in late 2017.

Mördande Rutin is a short and spikey piece of primitive punk with scratchy guitars and bubble gum organ, Julius shouts lyrics full of angst (sung in Swedish of course)

The B-side Jag Har Fått Nog is some of the snottiest punk in Europe continuing in the same attacking style as the A side, this track however slays all squares in its path, Julius lets out one of the most ear-piercing screams committed to record in 2018.

Be sure to go and give the band a like on their Soundcloud page Skiftande Enheter SOUNDCLOUD
you can also hear both sides of the new 7" here too.

Death Rays debut 7" The Shape Of The Night b/w Shadows.

Death Rays are formed by two like-minded souls from the small market town of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk UK, these two suburban outsiders go by the names Alexander Hawthorne & Simon Nunn.

Death Rays as a musical project was birthed as a revolt against the ever frustrating boredom of small town UK and Market Square are super proud to be releasing this their great brand-new debut 7".

Their debut focused around two tracks written & recorded by the pair via Hawthorne's home studio Am Krogel in Berlin Germany.

Side One, The Shape Of The Night starts with ambient crowd noise which gives way to the intense pounding of a vintage 70s drum machine, enveloped synth sounds and guitar feedback, sounding like a weird mixture of Suicide, early Sisters of Mercy & Les Rallies Denudes. Hawthorne begins singing in a Mary-Chain-esque manner about the woes of life, the highs, the lows, the subject matter open to interpretation, the music building to a feeling of intense agitation and creating to my ears one of the best new drone pop moments in music today.

This is neo-psychedelic music which "means" it, it is minimalistic, intense and angst ridden.

The B-side is a more softer affair featuring the track Shadows, the track has a very Spiritualized feel to it, with tremolo guitars, fluttering synthesisers and softly spoken vocals.

I feel this Death Rays 45 is a super new release and far outshines many of its contemporaries in the neo-psych "scene".

To add to its charm the 45 has been mastered by Sonic Boom who needs no introduction.

Limited to 300 copies only housed in hand-numbered risograph fold-over sleeve includes a lyric insert and Market Square post-card.

Released on September 11th 2017

Minneapolis' Real Numbers have been a mainstay amongst the DIY indie scene for a number of years now, with each of their releases getting better and better as they go on.

Market Square are incredibly proud to be releasing a 7" by Real Numbers, whom I regard as one of the current generation's best bands.

Centred around the song-writing of the band's leader Eli Hansen, Real Numbers have for a succession of releases forged out a discography full of great shambolic lo-fi pop brilliance right from their early beginning. In recent years Real Numbers popularity has grown and they are now highly regarded by fans and other musicians the world-over.

Market Square are pleased to release Real Numbers' double-sider of amazing pastoral indie-pop.

This new 7" see's the band release a newly mixed version of Frank Infatuation from their 2016 debut LP Wordless Wonder (available on Slumberland Records). The song is a gem and highlight of Eli Hansen's great songwriting ability, I'd like to say this will one day be considered an indie classic in years too come (only time will tell).

The b-side Leave It Behind is a track written by Eli's father & a close family friend, the song is one of the most tenderest songs I think Market Square has released to date and is an absolutely beautiful track, laid back chorus laden guitar and reverbed vocal highlight the track but the overall vibe of melancholia is what makes the song so great, its a really great piece of song-writing.

I consider this single to be one of the best indie releases in recent years and fans of C86, groups like New Order & The Wake as well as 60s influenced mods cannot fail with this release, Real Numbers seem to merge many cool genres in to one to come across as a totally original and completely unique band of the modern era.

Melbourne Australia's The Shifters have been making a really impressive noise over the last couple of years, still in their infancy but growing stronger with each gig they do, the band have grown to become one of more interesting new groups to emerge from Melbourne's Underground in recent years.

The group's debut 7" Creggan Shops impressed me with its monotone sleeve and scratchy guitar punk genius.

Market Square are proud to be releasing the band's second 7" A Believer b/w Contrast of Form.

Both sides combine great DIY art punk of the highest calibre.

A Believer starts proceedings with rhythmic drum work very reminiscent to Television Personalities 1988 single "How I Learned To Love The Bomb" a steady tribal beat opening way to a mesmerising chord and fender jaguar laden hook. The track also has a very Fall-esque vibe about it, with the way the organ flows through the track.... but ultimately this is The Shifters in their most snotty art-punk best, the song is poppy, its catchy and its the sound of a great new talent.

The b-side Contrast of Form is basically a trademark sound for this band, this in my opinion is some of the most perfect outsider pop happening in the world right now, the song takes us on a journey explaining the story of a weirdo artist and his ambitions to be a "real" artist and also to possibly "take flight" the song is open to interpretation, thats what's so cool about this song.

Musically The Shifters follow in a similar course forged by their Antipodian brothers from the early 80s NZ underground scene, groups of which came out of the embryonic Flying Nun Records catalogue, bands like the Stones, The Clean and The Bats... in-fact Contrast of Form is the closest I've heard a recent band capture the Dunedin sound without even trying.... there must be something cool in the water down-under??

Market Square are about to release a slew of new releases in 2017, the first being the brand-new 45 for UK based Garage band The Higher State.

The Higher State have been making records now since 2005 and this release is their ninth 45rpm single, If you're into authentic sounding 60s garage styled punk rock, then you'd probably know who The Higher State are.

The A-side Your Casting Doubt instantly kicks the listener from a low gear stasis straight into the territories of tearing the skin against concrete at full speed, the opening snare drum snaps and the guitars pound followed by a swirling Farfisa organ which gains momentum throughout the track. The song breaks into an up and down wave of rhythm, beat and melody, building to further heights with rumbling bass lines and sharp lyrical observations regards to all those phonies and sell-outs which dwell in society today, such lines spat out with venomous precision include ".. And the precious lies that you hold on to, seem so real at the time they're said" and my personal favourite "You're as fake as the one you're standing next too and I see right through everything you've said"... NICE!!!! The track also has some soaring fuzz-tone guitar both in the lead break and the outro. The outro also including some pretty killer organ, drum and bass work too.

Flip the record over and The Higher State have entered more moodier terrain with the b-side X-Ray Day; again the Farfisa organ floats gently whilst fantastic observational lyricisms are sung above a solid drum beat and some quite stead-fast guitar picking adding resonance to the vibe of the track.... everyday is your X-Ray Day, just remember that!!!

Overall this 45 does indeed sound like some bored teenagers in some garage space in Fort Worth Texas circa 1966, but instead its some equally bored dudes in a stairwell in Kent.

Los Angeles has always been a city whose music scene has always been ahead of the game, from the Jazz era all the way through to the 1980s Paisley Underground, there has always been a hip flavouring to the Los Angeles musical landscape.

The Creation Factory are an extension of Los Angeles' rich musical past. Formed by members Shane Stotsenberg (Bass/Vocals) & Iggy Gonzalez (Drums/Vocals) who are also main players in popular neo-psych pop act The Mystic Braves.

The Creation Factory formed mainly as a recording project between Shane & Iggy, before they introduced a trio of other Los Angeles and Bay Area musicians to join the fold and take the project onto the road to play shows, the current line-up also includes Organist Glenn Brigman and guitarists Neil Soiland & Gabriel Pacheco.

The above bunch of guys are the group who play on this, the debut 45rpm release by The Creation Factory.

The sounds on this piece of wax obviously is rooted in the past and this can clearly be heard, but The Creation Factory are not like other garage-revival groups today who are "trying to sound like the 60s", they are a band from 1966 NOW... they live it.

The Top side "Let Me Go" could very easily fit on the grooves of any Pebbles compilation or Highs in the Mid-60s comp, the song flows with outsider punk-isms with lyrical blasts against mediocrity such as "I just want to live my life alone so let me go", the song ebbs and flows with nice combo organ, fuzz tone guitar of exceptionally high quality and tumbling bass all held together by solid jazz flavoured drumming.

The Flip an uber-cool instrumental entitled "You Got It" kicks starts like some lost Avalon Ballroom freak-out, the track is meant to represent the groups soaring live set and essentially gives the listener an insight into what the bands out-there "live" vibe. The track has a Booker T & The MG's groove to it but also sounds as though the band have just come out of playing a show at the Pandora's Box on Sunset Strip circa 67', again swirling organ and fuzz tone guitar take the spotlight, but the groove behind held together by Shane and Iggy, is quite simply astounding.

The Creation Factory are one of the few groups today, doing this music as it is meant to be done and in my book are pretty authentic and shine a light over many of their fellow peers on the 60s garage revival scene... I DIG THEM and their fluid groove and so should YOU!!!!

Enigmatic three-piece post-punkers The Sticks return after a four year gap, with a brand new selection of warped and primal laced tracks in the form of the "NO SUSTAIN" E.P

The Brighton based trio continue with their minimalistic and disjointed style of music, clearly influenced by the early 80s DIY culture and C-80 tape scene, The Sticks have always been that band who would richly deserve to be on a Messethetics compilation.

The songs on this extended-play release fuses their influences of this past music scene but also combines new and unusual interplay which give The Sticks a very unique and fresh sound all of their own and totally individual to them. When you hear a Sticks track, you know what you're hearing but can never pin-point what the influence is and thats the magic of The Sticks.

The Sticks' members James "The Plague" Tranmer, Iain Paxton & Stuart Cartland each share the musical input rotating instruments and vocal duties as and when it suits them.

Side A kicks off with the title track 'No Sustain', the track sounds like it would easily have been released by Fast Products in 1980, the song deals with themes of the mundane, the boredom of modern life, the safety of living a "normal" 9-to-5 existence... The guys sing it with a nonchalant feel, which exemplifies the boredom of Brighton life (don't be fooled folks Brighton isn't that great!!!).

'Cobblers' starts off like some lost 60s garage obscurity, then takes an amphetamine hit where the song explodes into a myriad of visualisations, documenting more kitchen sink drama in the form of walking "cobbled" streets of any suburban town and The Sticks warns you to "BEWARE THEM" in the songs first line.

Flip the record over to Side B and things begin to get weird, 'Air Atlantis' has an almost Gang of Four feel through the spectrum of a Captain Beefheart or even Early-Floyd acid-trip, the guys are retelling the dizzy heights of air travel to the fabled lands of Atlantis, could this just be fiction?? or are the guys on a cosmonautical inner journey?? who knows?? ask them??

Casual Man, hits like some Hip-Hop track if it had overdosed of Kool-Aid and watched endless episodes of Sesame Street, The Sticks sing of the Casual Man - the guy we all see walking walking the town centre on a Saturday night and all slightly hate and despise, this is all the more amusing with the groovy bass-line which almost sarcastically takes the piss in its own funky way.... AMEN to The Sticks.

The No Sustain EP, will be released on OCTOBER 31st 2016.

It will be limited to 300 copies only and come in hand-numbered risograph sleeves, there will also be lyric inserts which the band themselves are going to be risographing too.

The record will be in a number of mail-orders and a couple of record shops.

Barcelona based Indie-Pop noise makers Jessica & The Fletchers debut 7" Marble Fountain b/w Crystal Tears will be proudly released on Market Square on the 23rd May 2016.

Jessica & The Fletchers have caused a bit of a sensation on the world-wide indie pop music scene during the last year, with their uber authentic C86 styled noise-pop, they wouldn't be out of place sharing the bill with The Shop Assistants circa 1986, however they are rooted firmly in their location of Barcelona 2016.

Fronted by Antoni Amaya who is also the bands songwriter, the group are clearly influenced by the ramshackle C86 music scene which came out of England in the mid-80s, they are defined by strong melodies, great song-writing and ethereal noise melting it all together just like honey.

Whilst being inspired by mid- 80s indie labels such as Sarah Records, Subway Organisation, bands like Talulah Gosh and most-likely a lot of the Scottish Indie scene of the time, these young noise-makers also take influence from the Spanish new-wave which aptly enough coincided with the C86 scene in the mid-80s. Jessica & The Fletchers although influenced by music made 30 years ago are also firmly rooted in the "NOW" and I feel are a breath of fresh air in the music world today, there are not many honest pop bands out there anymore, however these girls and guys are just that and I love that about them.

When I heard Jessica & The Fletcher for the first time, I fell in love with their music, their songs are rooted in the realism of their own lives, its truly honest music and has an extremely bittersweet vibe about it. Jessica & The Fletchers have a really interesting way of making short, spiky, pristine pop songs which are under the 3 minute-mark yet remain totally true to themselves and they keep a real understated mystery.... I think they're FAB!!!!

Marble Fountain starts the 45 with fuzzy guitar and simple 4/4 drumming holding it together, suddenly Jane the bands guitarist and lead vocalist starts off proceedings with her soft vocal singing the opening line "You saw shooting stars before the sunset..." the song proceeds in a see-saw motion of melodic intensity, retelling the tale of love-lost and adolescent poetry.

The B-side 'Crystal Tears' is the same style of indie genius, although a little more up-tempo compared to the A-side again Antoni provides beautiful teenage style street poetry with his lyrics and Jane sings a beautiful melody throughout, Aitor the bands drummer, keeps the time firmly despite the speed delivered and Sonia the bassist provides a nice comfortable bass holding the song together, they work well as a unit, which can really be heard on this track.

I see great things happening for Jessica & The Fletchers and really feel they should be "YOUR next favourite band".

The 7" will be released on the 23rd May 2016 and is limited to 300 copies only, each record comes with a hand-numbered lyric postcard and will also come housed in a Risograph fold-over sleeve (Just like a fanzine from back in the 80s)

Formed in 2004, South London based quartet The Fallen Leaves have been making a unique noise, blending mod-esque poptones & vitriolic punk urgency, they're one of London's truly great and lost independent bands.

"Punk Rock for Gentlemen" is their idiom and this new release lives up to the motto.

Out In A Forest b/w The Inside Of A Chair, is the bands second 45rpm single, follows a large and prolific number of self-released albums and a debut single on their own Parliament Records label.

Both songs on this release were co-written by the groups founding members Rob Green & Rob Symmons.

Side A 'Out In A Forest' is rooted in a four-chord, power-pop tradition with trembling guitars, weaving bass and a consistent drum beat holding it all together, whilst Rob Green's lead vocal melodically croons on top.

Fans of early indie music, after its initial rise from punk, would enjoy this record it has a certain early Creation or Cherry Red Records feel to it, similarities to bands like The Jasmine Minks, The June Brides & The McTells whilst at the same time showcasing The Fallen Leaves influences from melodic sixties mod-pop via The Who and The Creation.

The Flip-Side 'The Inside Of A Chair' is an instrumental of magnificent proportions. Rob Symmons having been one of the original founding members of cult punk band The Subway Sect showcases with this track alone that he was of great importance to that band and its influence on countless post-punk and 80s indie groups as well as continuing to make music utilising his totally unique guitar sound and style of playing.

The Inside Of A Chair, is a short but venom-filled track which moves along in a menacing manner there is a great sense of frustration in this song, the song title brings up ideas of Kitchen-Sink Drama and certainly doesn't live down that title.

The Current line-up of The Fallen Leaves are...

Rob Green - Vocals & Tambourine
Rob Symmons - Guitar
Matthew Karas - Bass & Backing Vocals
William Lewington - Drums

Hamburg's The Wrong Society have been going from strength to strength the last couple of years, with a bunch of live shows throughout 2014 & 2015, plus their great self-released 7" earlier in 2015 not too mention a previous tape and 7" released in 2014.

Market Square are pleased to be releasing the third The Wrong Society 45, not only are the guys' friends and fans of mine, they're also great at making moody garage songs.

this two-sider features two-moody garage cuts.

The punker a-side 'She Destroyed Me' follows in the 60s garage tradition of the girl done me wrong theme, but unlike many other neo-garage bands that attempt to make music with this theme, The Wrong Society do it in a way which is believable, they MEAN IT. Kai Becker the band's frontman, seems to also get a great tone out of his Vox Teardrop guitar, the song snakes along menacingly with bass and drums driving the song, there is something quite German about this, it recalls 60s German garage bands like The Guards, some great organ playing and guitar work weaves throughout the song too, making this a top a-side choice.

The flip 'Without You' is a killer song, the guys tap into the New England teen scene sound really well here, there is a real innocent vibe about this song and I really dig it, the lyrics are genius, full of teen style angst and abandon and naive genius "when I see a pretty girl, it makes me feel sad" brilliant!!!!

The Wrong Society consist of

Paul Messis has been releasing music since 2008, he's a well established figure on the underground music scene, this is his sixth solo 45.

Blind Leading The Blind b/w As Time Rolls By, continues in the 60s garage vein Messis is known for.

The top-side 'The Blind Leading the Blind' is a jangle led protest song about the state of the world at the moment, the hypocrisy of the media, the self-consumption of the modern age. Musically sounding as though it belong in Los Angeles 1965, the song follows a typical folk-rock chord progression, whilst Messis delivers his angst ridden poetry, expressing his own mis-trust of the established figures which rule society. 12 String guitar plays a prominent part, jangling throughout, with a Jazz inspired guitar solo in the middle and fuzz tone guitar penetrating through the compression.

'As Time Rolls By' the b-side, continues the 12 string lament Messis is known for, the track is a Dovers-esque downtrodden pop song, Messis portraying his alienation from the world with further lyricism about inner confusion and melancholy, Messis' understated vocal styling adding to the naivety and charm of the track.

Market Square are proud to be releasing a new 45 by Brooklyn based psych-heads Worthless.

Children on The Grave b/w Softest is a two-sided acid psych freakout of mind-altering pop proportions.

Formed in 2012 by psych whizz kid Curtis Godino, Worthless who are natives of Florida headed north and made their home-destination Brooklyn NY, once they arrived in the big city, the group formed and begun its manifesto of making brain-changing psychedelic music.

The group have very similar connotations to 60s anti-establishment acid-punk band The Fugs (also from New York), they share the Fugs' DIY assault of the senses, whilst recording the music themselves and also releasing their own music, having released their debut LP on their own label earlier in the year.

Worthless are the ideal group for Market Square and we are super pleased to be releasing like-minded folks and sharing their music worldwide.

This their second 7" see's the band develop a pop sensibility entwined within the psychedelic weirdness they create with their tape-echos, delays and Vox 12 string guitars.

The top-side Children of The Grave, sets out with a reverb heavy vocal, sounding reminiscent to 60s Milwaukee psych group The Baroques, the song walks along with a trippy feel further heightened by the use of acoustic guitar and odd sounding sound-effects at times sounding quite similar to early Pink Floyd demo 'Scream Thy Last Scream', gloriously lo-fi in its recording, this will be the soundtrack for anyone who enjoys original psych.

The B-side 'Softest' is an organ led piece of psych mastery, the song has a Jane and Serge vibe about it, the warped yéyé pop of Worthless evolving through layers of echo and feedback, plus genius use of slowing and speeding the tape to effect the vocals, the song then slides to its finalé a slow early Floyd Farfisa Compact solo, this instrumental segment recalls imagery of San Francisco's live venue The Fillmore filled with psychedelic light shows and oil lamp projectors, you could well be placed on Haight and Ashbury circa 1966 than modern-day Brooklyn 2015.

Worthless play live regularly around the New York area so check them out if you get a chance.

the band consists of - Curtis Godino, Skyler Toski, Nicole Zamfess, Leonard Skillet, Lily Rogers & Sam Dishy

Florida based folk-rock group The Belltowers have been going since 2006, Market Square are proud to be releasing their second 45rpm single and the labels eighth release.

Here To Stay b/w Lovin' You (Leading Me On) hears The Belltowers continuing in their Byrdsian take-over, following on from their debut 45 on Hidden Volume Records, The Belltowers continue with their high quality twelve-string janglers and Paisley-Underground inspired folk-rock.

The Band consist of ex-Lears frontman Paul Mutchler - Vocals & 12 String Guitars, Eddie Foeller - Guitars, Mandolin and Harp, Marshall Huggins - Bass and Keys and Thomas Miller - Drums & Percussion.

'Here To Stay' the A-side, hits with perfect paisley pop stylings, recounting early 80s bands such as The Rain Parade and The Three O'Clock, the song ebbs and weaves, with continuous Rickenbacker jangle, harmonies and an underlying Hammond organ swirling gently beneath, the break has an interesting backwards guitar solo and overall shows a great level on musicianship and songwriting skills from The Belltowers.

The B-side 'Lovin' Me' is a short and sweet jangler, Mutchler sounding more like Roger McGuinn than McGuinn himself, the track also has a sort of Long Ryders country-rock feel to it also, great drum fills permeate the scene whilst the compressed treble-tone action of the Rickenbacker 12 string guitar chimes through.

The Belltowers like countless other groups in America right now are recording and writing great music, Market Square Records are pleased to be releasing the likes of these groups in Europe and giving them a chance to have their music on the great format of 45rpm 7" wax.

The Ar-kaics blasted into the world in 2013 releasing their debut 45 on Speakertree Records, since then the band has gathered momentum with continuous live shows across North America and a handful of really hip 45s on various labels and the release of their cool self-titled debut LP released on Windian in 2014.

2015 sees the label release the bands fifth 45rpm single 'Always The Same b/w Let Me In, which is also the seventh release on underground Sussex based label Market Square Records.

The Virginia based quartet featuring Kevin Longendyke - Guitar & Vocals, Johnny Ward - Guitar & Vocals, Patty Conway - Drums & Tim Abondello - Bass, together have a great way of putting their frustrations and angst onto a 45rpm groove and on this Market Square release you can hear it.

Top-Side 'Always The Same' kicks off with Patty Conway's primal drumming, her drum style has echoes of Miriam Linna about it, the group then launch into a three-chord tirade with Kevin singing frustratingly about the boredoms of love, typical in the 60s garage-punk fashion this track is a 'girl done bad' type punker, the guitar solo in the break recalls The Keggs and overall the track has a Cramps meets Troggs feel.

The Flip 'Let Me In' sees The Ar-kaics enter more moodier climates, the track kicks in with reverb heavy guitars and in general has a real "bummed-out" feel to it, but this is where the genius lies, the track ebbs and flows for 4 minutes, yet the track is weirdly hypnotic, there is a real desperation in 'Let Me In'. As the track builds with throbbing bass and tremolo feedback, Kevin wails in utter sadness "....But You Won't Let Me In?" its confused and genius.

Market Square are proud and pleased to be releasing this 45 for The Ar-kaics, they're one of the few groups out there who are not sell-outs any genuine fans of rock n roll and punk rock, should invest in this 45 and also check out the bands other releases.

Market Square Number six comes in the form of 'dream-laden' outsider pop by Mississippi based singer-songwriter Talbot Adams.

The Green Girl b/w I Love You So 45, features two great lo-fi indie-pop tracks from Talbot Adams, Talbot lives in Oxford, Mississippi however has had quite a chartered music career, he is a well-known name on the Memphis punk scene as well as being in bands such as The Black and Whites, The Royal Pendletons and KBD styled punkers The Dutch Masters amongst others.... however this 45 - Talbot's third solo single under his own name. Green Girl b/w I Love You So, showcases some of Talbot's more gentler songs and Market Square are exceptionally proud and pleased to be working with Talbot Adams.

Green Girl, begins with a simple drum-pattern which recounts 60s girl groups like the Ronnettes, Talbot's vocal enters singing lyrics about lost-love, a meandering bass-line flows through the song, with acoustic jangle and a Moog synth glide effortlessly underneath, Green Girl is an understated pop-song, creating a great stoned-summer vibe.

I Love You So, the flip, is even more dreamy and chilled... pretty much picking-up where the A-side left off, this track is almost indie-pop and has a real trippy Paisley Underground feel yet at the same time, it sounds like a slow-motion doo-wop song, this is where Talbot is great, he writes songs which you can't quite work out, it sounds modern, it sounds old, all in all, that is a great skill which Talbot has as a songwriter, regardless of styles, these tracks are cool and the 45 as a whole, is a real nice listening experience.... As mentioned above, ideal for a stoned Indian summer gazing into the eyes of a loved one.
The fifth 45rpm single on Market Square comes from the primordial cesspit which is Crawley, West Sussex UK

The Suburban Homes, sick to death with their lot in life, decided one day to record a few songs, they were so bored but it turned out to be a somewhat fun process and did indeed brake up the Monday to Friday existence they all hated, the songs were recorded in a few hours and thus Market Square are proud to be releasing the angst-ridden neurosis which is The Suburban Home E.P.

The flip-side, kicks off with Pseudo-Intellectuals, which was written after the boys had returned from a trip to London, London seemed an even more idiotic place than Crawley, so with that in mind, they picked up their guitars, played three chords and simply tell it as it is.
The E.P is rounded off with the lacklustre theme for doing-it-yourself, the rather originally titled D.I.Y, sings the praises of individual creativity "its easier than 123, its easier than ABC " they yell, however, how many people are actually listening??

The Suburban Homes take DIY punk to its next original conclusion and thus have most likely created one of the truly last punk moments in UK music.

The fourth 45rpm single on Market Square comes from New York based Singer-Songwriter Michael Lynch who provides two great pop songs for this his debut 45 release.

Michael has been a mainstay on the New York gig circuit for a long time and has worked in various guises over the years, he has also appeared in many different groups whether just playing a number of instruments for others or producing them, all in all, Michael Lynch is a super talented guy and I am proud to be releasing a 45 for him on Market Square.

The A-side 'She's On Her Way' is an early Beatles styled melodic pop tune, superbly catchy and real short clocking in at just over 1 minute 50 seconds, Lynch soars through chord progressions whilst the song ebbs and flows with rich sounding drum fills and neat vocal harmonies sung over even neater vocal melodies... this is one which could've come straight outta the Brill Building in 1965, the song also hints towards Sunshine Pop groups such as The Yellow Balloon and The Ohio Express, fans of that kinda 60s pop can't fail with this.

The B-side This Girl' is a fantastic song, written in a moody jangle pop style, the song is the perfect three minute pop song, a universal theme which we can all relate with sung with great emotion from Michael, 'This Girl' like the top-side, is complimented by great musicianship and harmonies, a fantastic song making this a great pop two-sider.

The third 45rpm single on Market Square comes from South-Coast instrumentalists The Space Agency, the single is limited to 300 copies only, housed in a cool picture sleeve and is individually hand numbered, you know the drill by now.

The Space Agency are one if not thee best instrumental group around today, The Hove based trio comprise of; multi-instrumentalist Simon Jones (ex- Vibrasonic), who takes care of the songwriting and all of the lead 6-string duties alongside Hiromi Jones, rhythm guitars and bass vibrations (sometimes even the baritone guitar too) and on the drum-kit good friend Andrew Bowler who holds the whole trip together with some tight snare and symbol playing.

The A-side 'Bombay Potatoes' hits first like some long-lost exploitation movie soundtrack, Jones providing the right amount of reverbed guitar and some great electric sitar playing courtesy of the Coral Sitar Guitar, the track meanders mesmerically until it erupts in fuzz at the end, the perfect psychedelic instrumental ... a way hip floor-filler for any Disc Jockey who has any sense.

The B-side 'Purple Power' is a menacing instrumental, with sniggering guitar lines, amplified by Fender's glorious treble tone, this is a surf-styled instro which even the best of 60s combos would be proud of having in their set, fluid playing once again by Jones throughout not too mention great and equally creative accompaniment by his backing band.

'Market Square' are proud to unleash this instrumental two-sider, making for the perfect psychedelic anecdote for a hazy UK Summer.

Be sure to grab this 45 quick, or suffer the fate of being a Hodad.
The sophomore single on 'Market Square' is a wonderful release by Virginia based folk-rockers The Young Sinclairs, this 7" single is strictly limited to 300 copies only and each will be individually hand-numbered.

The Young Sinclairs' newest 7" offering here on Market Square Records (based outta West Sussex UK) is a double-sided jangle fest with layers of vocal harmony, bringing to the listener a strange yet familiar echoing of bands from yesteryear, groups such as The Byrds, The Who, Powder and Big Star, to name but a few. Samuel J Lunsford, creative leader of The Young Sinclairs combines his influences well and creates something solely his own, unique to himself as a songwriter and hopefully to you the listener as well.

The top-side 'Engineer Man' hits first with perfect power-pop precision, pitch-perfect harmonies and a steady driving-beat throughout, the flip hosts the melancholic 'Problems' which sends us into all too familiar terrain when someone we love, gets up and goes... The sentiment endorsed further by fantastic usage of chiming 12 string guitar and melody-lines straight outta the Brian Wilson songbook.
